Prospective PhD students

We are actively hiring Ph.D. students for Fall 2024. Please send me an email with your CV and a brief description of your research interests.
Pleae make sure that your interests and experience aligns with the problems that we are working on in the lab.
Research experience in relevant areas is strongly encouraged.
Due to overwhelming number of emails, I probably won’t have time to get back to you but I’ll read your email.

Generally, we welcome motivated masters students who plan to apply to Ph.D. programs, or students enrolled in 2 year masters program.
We currently do not have specific funding to support masters students. But feel free to to ask.

We generally welcome motivated undergraduate students to join our lab!
Strong programming skills and experience in AI/ML/NLP is considered a plus.

FAQs

Are there any particular qualifications that you look for in potential Ph.D. students?

Generally, we look for students with a strong academic record, a strong passion for research, demonstrated research experience, and great communication and problem-solving skills.
Another important factor is the overall fit of the candidate’s research interests and experience with research areas of my group.
Applications from underrepresented groups are especially encouraged.

Do I need to have first-author publications when applying to Ph.D.?

No, you don’t need to have first-author publications.
While first-author publications are considered as a plus, they are not required and we look at your application as a whole.

Are you hiring postdocs?

We currently do not have open positions for postdocs. But this could change in future. In case of exceptional candidatees or very close research fit, please feel free to reach out.
